savory summer banh mi bento

This bento was inspired by an intriguing package of Vietnamese tapioca cookies found recently at a favorite Asian supermarket. Love the bright colors and neat rows of sweets:
The banh mi is filled with an interesting combo including spicy Szechuan beef tendon, applewood smoked bacon, carrot pickle, mayo and mint. Cantaloupe butterfly, basil, green leaf lettuce, corn, watermelon and orange slices also inside today's lunch...
On a walk this afternoon I encountered these sweet guys:

Happy midweek, bento pals!

Looks like it's banh mi time! Thanks for reminding me how good it is in summer. Those tapioca cookies are cool; never seen them before. Happy hump day!

Ooh, that cantaloupe butterfly is beautiful! I went to Chinatown for lunch today, now I'm realizing I should have gotten a banh mi for lunch, hehe.

That watermelon is so vibrant red, it gorgeous. I love the butterfly cutter, it has such detail. I love the whole look with your special touch! Cute cats, our neighbor's cat always lays down and rolls over when he sees us. Looks like you woke this one up! Have a great rest of the week!

Thanks Carol--speaking of Chinatown, that's where I got the butterfly cutter, at a housewares place on Mott! Hope your lunch was yummy and interesting...

Hi there Lyndsey :) Bento has me enjoying more colorful fruit than ever before!

These kitties were full of personality, esp the multicolored cutie--totally outgoing and affectionate, caught here in sidewalk-rolling mode. Happy Thursday :)

Lovely! I really do like your butterfly and banh mi. Looks gorgeous and yummy. Tapioca cookies sounds interesting, I'm curious if those are same with Indonesian version? Our version is like when you put in your mouth and then melt so quickly :)

Hi Lia and thanks so much, my friend. These cookies were very similar--they melted right away, just like yours!
