pink azalea bento

Today's bento includes a zingy chicken salad with basil pesto and green peppercorns, pea shoots, champagne mango, purple sweet potatoes, garlic ume pickles (sakura nostalgia!), golden baby tomatoes, pink radish pickles, and a skewer of blueberries.
Sophie from next door has been visiting with us quite a bit recently. She's very mellow and sweet!
Azaleas are the current queens of the spring floral procession, whether in bright bud or full bloom:
I'm thrilled to see the morning glory seeds planted last week (a Japanese purple-striped variety) emerging:

Look at that cute pink kitty! I enjoy seeing your creativity with this bright pink box. Makes me hungry looking at it too! Give Sophie a rub on the belly for me!

What camera do you use? Your shots are so sharp and evocative! They really affect me :)
I have no azaleas, but recognize those morning glory seedlings. They are quite hardy over here, so manage to reseed themselves! Today my girl and I repotted some strawberry plants with high hopes. Love your bento and environs!

I love this one.... all pink and purple!!! I'm gonna have to look up about garlic ume pickles cause it sounds yum.

Thank you, I admire your clear and beautiful images as well! I've been using a Canon S90 since late February, am still learning its capabilities--I like it very much but its less intutive than the Nikon I was using before.
Hoping your strawberry plants are off to a strong start...sounds like a lovely sfternoon with your girl!

The colors are lovely!! I've never heard of picked garlic. I bet it packs quite a punch, huh?

Hi Katy! You'd be surprised--they are fairly mild and sweet! The pickling process mutes the fieriness in a similar manner as roasting, but with the added tang of plum vinegar...hope you are having a relaxing weekend, bento pal!
