april violets bento

How was your Easter weekend? I woke up early and went for a walk on bright breezy Sunday morning, spending some time with the "Apricot Parrot" tulips blooming jazzily outside:

Along with electric-blue hyancinth:
Beautiful redbuds, whose vivid pinks indicate spring is here to stay!
Violets, quietly aglow:
Easter candy!
These bright colors echoed in hand-dyed Easter eggs made by our wonderful friends Chris and Alicia:
This bento features a Vietnamese crepe filled with beansprouts and shrimp, purple cabbage, radish sprouts, enoki mushrooms, carrot flowers, and baby greens. Freshly gathered violets offer edible ornamentation...
Have a great Tuesday, bento friends!

Wow that bento is like spring in a box. When I look at it I feel like I'm in a little garden. It's beautiful and it sounds like it was delicious.

beautiful, bold colors in this one - the silk bag is a pretty prop, and the purple cabbage and orange flowers make me want to dive right in! and those parrot tulips are CRAZY!

How did you ever get that squirrel to pose for you! You are quick with the shutter, girl!
Love those parrot tulips too, and all the other spring blooms! I have many of them here, at around the same stage as well. Sweet violets are my very very favorite. A single tiny violet can scent the room!
Love the sweetness in your lovely bento too! Wonderful!

Aw, such a gorgeous bento again. Lovely colours all around: in your bento as well as the garden! Spring is just a little behind here, I guess ;)

Ha sherimiya, great comment! This cute guy was really hyper--when I walked by, he was like "hey!" and I was able to get this picture! I would love to see a Bay Area spring, it sounds enchanting! Thank you so much for your comment-bouquet, wishing you a lovely Tuesday :)

Oh rare and pretty tulips!
Love the geese and the squirrel. He's saying to me 'Hi!'.
Fresh and elegant bento, this one as well.

I envy that you live in the place having abundant nature and beautiful botany. I think you're living in the really great place!
Thanks for sharing that with us. ^^

Beautiful bento Jenn :D. I sometimes wonder from where you can get those fresh and beautiful ingredients for your bentos. Btw, love your colorful eggs photos :D

Dear Izumi, thank you!--bento has helped me to be more aware and appreciative of the beauty that's here. Meanwhile, I dream of visiting your country some day!

Hi Tata! Thank you :D Can't wait for the local Farmer's Market to start in early May to really start eating "seasonally" until winter comes! Would love to see pictures of your food markets, btw!

Wonderful photos. I especialy like "Mr. Squirrel" saying "howdy"!

You ask about signs of spring I'm currently seeing... Well, I did go to the Japanese Cherry Blossom Garden on Sunday (post will be up later), but I really had to travel for that. Around here there are some early trees blossoming and the daffodils have just passed their height. But that's mostly it! Still pretty cold here... brrr.

But I expect everything to burst really soon now! :))
