vietnamese treats bento

Hi there! Vietnamese flavors added delicate freshness to today's bento, with dishes from Santa Rosa's Simply Vietnam (we had a nice lunch there lunch yesterday with a friend). I took home spring rolls, delicious beef rolls with lemongrass
and grilled shrimp. All have hopped into the bento with edible flowers from the late February garden--bright violets and onion blossoms--and "flowers"of sweet kiwi.

Violets have naturalized in swaths of the garden...

And trees are exploding into pastel bloom everywhere...

Thanks for bringing spring to my home! I just love the cherry blossoms and violets.
I love how you always integrate nature into your bentos.
Do you actually eat all the edible flowers?
I usually use edible flowers only as a garnish in my bentos, but eat them when I use them in my salads.

Dear Megg, that comment totally made me smile! Don't you just love bentos with little compartments? Is there good Vietnamese in your new locale? I sure hope so, I never tire of it....hugs!
