happy birthday virgo bento

Hey there bento pals! This month's astro-bento for Virgo includes some of the cleansing and healthful foods associated with this sign, including the whole grain bounty of the late-summer harvest. Virgo's careful attention to handicraft and health make it a great sign for creative cooks and bentoists. (Happy birthday gamene, Lyndsey, Emily, Cherry Bento and Susan!!)

In the Virgo bento, a coil of buckwheat and whole wheat soba noodles is combined with earthy Virgo-associated fennel and carrots, plus scallions, ginger, spinach and shrimp. Refreshing endive serves as an edible baran, with a side of crunchy purple pepper slices. For dessert, a pair of pink strawberry mochi are topped with peach butterflies...
On a walk this morning I enjoyed the sense of almost-fall in the air, the cobalt blue sky and swirling currents of crisp breezes...
Have a lovely weekend!

Thanks Jenn I love it. My husband's birthday is today, so I am 15 days older than him and it makes for a long two weeks, lol!

I like the center with the nest of greens holding the pine nuts. The purple peppers are interesting that they are white inside. It's a lot to look at yet it all works so well together! Is it laying in a bed of mint? Just lovely!

Aw, this looks really delicious. I would be happy to have your great virgo bento ;)
I was able to get some strawberry mochi here in Germany, too. Are yours also filled?

But I think I like macha and red bean mochis much more ;)
