foxy ikura bento

Hi bento pals! Today's bento was inspired by Babykins' recent autumnal post in which she featured ikura as a savory treat of the fall season. So here for lunch we have little inari pockets filled with avocado and ikura, a departure from the traditional rice-filled "fox inari". For decoration, handmade foodpicks made with cute and sassy little fox beads from Japan that I've attached to toothpicks:
I think the foxes look pleased with the new season and its russety-rich colors!
Baby tomatoes, baby romaine, butter-sauteed shishito peppers (yum!) and shimeji mushrooms are sharing this new round bento set from Bento & Co, whose always interesting selections are so hard to resist! I've been really inspired by the crisp fall spirit in many bentos in our community right now, how about you?

Have a lovely evening...

Not quite fall anything here yet, no crisp air...except in the mornings it's in the 70s and it might even be called cool. Our farmer's market should be picking up by now, so we need to start going again. I love your hand painted fox picks. Everything looks tasty, and I'm inspired now by your beautiful bento! :D

The fall colors are gorgeous in your bento. I think the fox must be very happy to be there :)

Absolutely beautiful! Never get tired to say this for your bento because it is a wonderful bento. Ikura and avacoda inside the inari pocket is so nice, love it! (^.^)

hi there Jennifer and Jaclyn, I think the green richness of the avocado offsets the salty ikura nicely, interested in your thoughts :)

hi there Kuusou! thanks, I fell in love with these poised little guys when I say them on Etsy...we have foxes (real ones) around here that are startlingly cute and beautiful.
hope you are enjoying a good week thus far!

hiya sherimiya, its been an awfully dry summer so the fall foliage display here won't be as amber-ruby-goldenrod gorgeous as usual...but eventually those green maples will shade into something spicier...thanks and happy fall :)

Aw, that fox bead is adorable. And ikura, yum. I am SO HAPPY that it's starting to become more fall-like, it's my favorite season!

those inari pockets look so yummy, a nice change to fill with something other than rice. the actual tofu skin looks much thicker than the one i'm able to find at my grocer!

nice flavors here with the earthy peppers and mushrooms. nice new box, too!

and your creativity never ceases to amaze me -- beads attached to picks is wonderful!
