golden squash frittata bento

Today's bento made use of the beautiful slender squash at the farmers market:
I sautéed several of the sqaush, thinly sliced, with onion, fresh basil, and golden squash flowers. Next, eggs, milk and swiss cheese were added before pouring all in a round casserole to bake. This little heart was made from the frittata and is decorated with golden squash "clouds" and purple sage blossoms:

Snow pea tops, mini peppers, ripe cherries and a vanilla kiwi cupcake round things out!

Beautiful squash and frittata! Isn't is fun to say frittata? Almost as much fun as it is to eat! :D

I love the kiwi on the cupcake really rounds things off, it looks so good in my favorite pink bento! (I thought I had that similar one but on mine the top is pink and the bottom is white -oops) Loving the orange flower too...everything is so pretty!

Hi Lyndsey!
Thanks as always for your thoughtful, kind comments! This pink box is such a cheerful color that it jump-starts the bento process for me! Really loved "Wordless Wednesday" today, such great pictures :D

Gorgeous bento as always, Jenn! You can make individual frittatas in muffin tins, which is really easy. Be sure to spray the tins with nonstick spray first, though.

I saw squash blossoms at the market today, and seriously considered snapping some up, but they are so delicate that I feel bad about buying them unless I can use them right away. Hopefully I will get a bit of downtime soon so I can make stuffed squash blossoms, yum!

So sweet. I love the ease of frittatas, and the way you can put any number of wonderful veggies inside. Lovely presentation, as always! Vanilla kiwi cupcake sounds divine!

Hi sherimiya, yes indeed--no end to the possible veggie frittata variations, perfect for this season of fresh bright produce. I was just wondering about a corn-roasted eggplant--basil-goat cheese combo! Have a sunny, happy first day of July :)

Lovely bento! On first look at the very first photo, somehow I find the golden squash "clouds" and purple sage blossoms look just like tiny dragonfly, love them! :)
