iris colors bento

Today's bento was inspired by the colors of a variegated purple-toned iris that came into full bloom in my garden after a rainy afternoon:
The magewappa box contains cumin lamb with cilantro, baby romaine, a purple cabbage heart, a coil of pickled radish with okra garnish, sprouts and these interesting Korean rice crackers:
Lunchtime walks yesterday and today revealed a floral feast, including so many iris. I love the flowers of May!

What's in bloom where you live? The farmer's market opens locally here this weekend, and though I'll be traveling and miss its inaugural day, I'm so happy that local, diverse, and beautiful produce will be available again...it means that spring, my favorite season, has truly arrived, and bentoing will be even more enjoyable!

  2. Beautiful bento, I can see the iris inspiration in it. You have so many beautiful flower photos too. I've enjoyed them all. Right now we have Jacaranda trees in full purple bloom. I'll have to bring my camera and catch a photo when I take our dog for a walk. It's getting that time when we have to wait for evening when it is cooler for him.

  5. Super lovely! You know how I feel about the garden pics; like you I take a lot of my own. Sadly, I don't have irises. Right now I have lots of spring roses in bloom. Gorgeous magewappa bento filled to the brim with wondrous things!

  6. Your bentos are so beautiful and creative and inspiring--I love that you can get inspiration from flowers and nature, and express it not just in terms of shape, but in colors and feeling.

Right now, we still have some tulips in bloom, but I think roses are starting up! In the office, our geranium is blooming but everything else is stubbornly just putting out leaves and no buds, hehe.

  11. OHHHH How I love peonies! My dirt don't seem to love them though.. I've tried for going on three years now to get them to grow. Mostly everything here is still leafing up or just starting to bud.

  18. Hi Angi! That is interesting, I hope you'll have better luck with them next spring! Peonies seem to love and require much sun, like so many beautiful flowers...

  19. Hi Lil'chan! Because my garden is small, I'm out on the prowl for these bright flowers everywhere I go! (However my three rose shrubs are getting ready to bloom soon and I can't wait!) Are there certain spring blooms you are looking forward to seeing where you live?

this bento has wonderful balance -- i can totally see the flower's inspiration, and you have certainly done it justice here. the colors, the pretty bunny, the contrast between the supple greens and the crispy rice crackers -- all perfect.
