Happy Friday, bento pals!It seems like many of us are enjoying bento this week as a way of giving leftovers new vitality and pizazz. Definitely my approach to today's lunch...
A dinner of orange roughy baked with olive oil, basil pesto, capers and a thick topping of sauteed red onions, yellow bell pepper and tasty fennel is jazzed up here with a fresh mozzarella and orange tomato skewer. Fresh oregano, romaine and snow pea tops share this hand-painted bento box along with sweet white peach slices and ripe raspberries.
We have had a series of gentle, breezy-bright days that look set to continue into the weekend. Tall trees in our backyard are quietly musical in the wind and crickets, cicadas and squirrels join in with their own sounds and songs...
The farmer's market has started to shift, ever so gradually, to include autumnal items like squash and apples, but we are still enjoying tomatoes and peaches more than any year I can remember...I think bento has something to do with that! Do you also find that bento has made you more appreciative and aware of the season's changing and beautiful bounty?
Have a fun and relaxing weekend!
what a delicious looking lunch! :) I love the topping of the sauteed red onions <3 And your bentobox is sooo beautiful!

hi Robin, so nice to see your pretty bird icon alight on my blog, welcome! yes, summer peaches are such a delight...
ReplyDeleteHi, Every time I see one of your boxes they make me smile because they are always so pretty! This one has my curiosity up though, what type of bloom is that that you used for the make shift pick for the tomatoes and cheese?
ReplyDeletehi there Anon! so glad my bentos make you smile! I've used the starry end of a clematis vine here, purple blossom long gone but interesting architecture remaining...
ReplyDeleteWOW your Bento are AMAZING! So different from the Japanese Manga ones that looked like they are from TV Japanese cartoon. Your pictures are beautiful and all details are wonderful. I do not know how many hours you spend to pepare them, take picture but you are an astist. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLovely bento as always... I really love your hand-painted bento box, it looks beautiful. Btw, I've read Just Bento's post that features your bento creation. Congrats, Jenn! Yours is well deserved, thanks for always inspiring us with your gorgeous bentos :D
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful - those peaches look delicious, and I love the sound of the fish!
ReplyDeleteMerci Celine, thank you for sharing such a kind comment!
ReplyDeleteI find that it does not take long to compose most bentos, and that by listening to my intuition (or is it the fruits and veggies themeselves?) edible elements find their spots in the bento rather naturally!
Love your blog, was so fun to read about your amazing Franco-American culinary path...inspiring indeed :D!
Ta, you are the sweetest bento pal!! I Thanks for really lighting up my morning with your LOVELY words...have a great week ahead dear!
