cool froggie bento

Summer is truly upon us here on the East Coast of the US--we are riding out a week-long heat wave. A fiery sun as the day begins:
So today's bento features the cool green company of a little froggie from Kyoto, found on my recent visit to NYC. He relaxes here on a sandwich filled with salmon salad (made with scallions, artichoke heart salad, mayo and Dijon mustard) and avocado slices. Baby romaine and ripe cherries are inside, too.

In fleeting bloom, the first violet and white morning glory...
Happy Friday, bento friends!

  1. That frog is so cute!! You even have a lily pad for him! Now that salmon salad sounds fantastic! I will have some of that please!

The morning glory is so pretty...don't you love it when you look out in the morning and catch the blossoms all open?

  2. Lovely! Ribbit. :-) That sandwich sounds delish, plus you probably didn't have to heat anything up in the kitchen to make it. Stay cool, Jenn!

This is the first morning glory to open, can't wait to see other variations that are to come. Happy weekend, my friend...

  13. what an adorable frog! And mmm, salmon salad...that sounds nice and refreshing. Boy, can you believe this heat? Everyday by the time I get to work, I feel like I need to shower again. We had a 5 minute rain yesterday morning that just made the humidity worse, but the forecasters are predicting thunderstorms today and tomorrow....fingers crossed!
