Summer is truly upon us here on the East Coast of the US--we are riding out a week-long heat wave. A fiery sun as the day begins:
So today's bento features the cool green company of a little froggie from Kyoto, found on my recent visit to NYC. He relaxes here on a sandwich filled with salmon salad (made with scallions, artichoke heart salad, mayo and Dijon mustard) and avocado slices. Baby romaine and ripe cherries are inside, too.
In fleeting bloom, the first violet and white morning glory...
Happy Friday, bento friends!
That frog is so cute!! You even have a lily pad for him! Now that salmon salad sounds fantastic! I will have some of that please!
ReplyDeleteThe morning glory is so pretty...don't you love it when you look out in the morning and catch the blossoms all open?
Lovely! Ribbit. :-) That sandwich sounds delish, plus you probably didn't have to heat anything up in the kitchen to make it. Stay cool, Jenn!
ReplyDeleteHi Lyndsey! Thanks so much :) Yay, another salmon fan! In summer it just tastes perfect with avocado.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first morning glory to open, can't wait to see other variations that are to come. Happy weekend, my friend...
Hi there Sonoma Bento! Yep, you said it--no cooking for this one. Have a great weekend and inspiring trip to the farmer's market if you go :)
ReplyDeleteLove the froggy, basking in the hot sun? Love your food presentation! Have a great week ahead! Cheers! =) Karen
ReplyDeleteI feel cool just looking at your froggie resting on his pad. Hope you get a respite soon! Or better yet, send some heat over here to burn off our morning fog!
ReplyDeleteMy, your bento looks again so summery ^-^ Every time I look on your bento I miss a flowery garden *sigh*
ReplyDeleteAnd the froggy is super cute ^-^
So cute! The frog looks so happy hanging out on his lily pad! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, thanks for your visit and these lovely comments--happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi sherimiya, ok--sounds like a plan! We'd love some rain if you have any extra to spare ;) Happily it will revert to the 80's for at least part of the weekend, ahhhhh. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi Lil'chan! So nice to have you visit...what does summer look like where you are? Glad you liked the little froggie accent--he makes me smile :)
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! I hope so...he makes me happy to look at, I know that ;) Have a lovely weekend, dear.
ReplyDeletewhat an adorable frog! And mmm, salmon salad...that sounds nice and refreshing. Boy, can you believe this heat? Everyday by the time I get to work, I feel like I need to shower again. We had a 5 minute rain yesterday morning that just made the humidity worse, but the forecasters are predicting thunderstorms today and tomorrow....fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, thanks! Yes its been a crazy hot week, we are also supposed to get those storms, I so hope they arrive. Have a great weekend, will you be watching the game on Sunday?
ReplyDeleteDarn right! We're heading to my friend's apartment to watch the game, except that they're all Spain supporters and I'm kind of hoping that the Netherlands wins....hehe. Have an awesome weekend :) Hope it cools down for you guys!
ReplyDeleteSounds fun--enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteHands down, one of my favorite sites.
