Today's bento includes a zingy chicken salad with basil pesto and green peppercorns, pea shoots, champagne mango, purple sweet potatoes, garlic ume pickles (sakura nostalgia!), golden baby tomatoes, pink radish pickles, and a skewer of blueberries.
Sophie from next door has been visiting with us quite a bit recently. She's very mellow and sweet!
Azaleas are the current queens of the spring floral procession, whether in bright bud or full bloom:
I'm thrilled to see the morning glory seeds planted last week (a Japanese purple-striped variety) emerging:
In bloom by our little backyard pond:
Many thanks to the amazing Lia of Bentolicious for sharing these lovely awards with me:
Lia, your bento creativity and artistry keep me entertained and awe-struck!
Happy Thursday, friends!
Look at that cute pink kitty! I enjoy seeing your creativity with this bright pink box. Makes me hungry looking at it too! Give Sophie a rub on the belly for me!
ReplyDeleteWhat camera do you use? Your shots are so sharp and evocative! They really affect me :)
ReplyDeleteI have no azaleas, but recognize those morning glory seedlings. They are quite hardy over here, so manage to reseed themselves! Today my girl and I repotted some strawberry plants with high hopes. Love your bento and environs!
Jenn, your beautiful bento ideas never dry up. I like this bento so much and garlic ume pickles are wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteoh man, you can turn every box into an awesome piece of art! amazing! <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteI love this one.... all pink and purple!!! I'm gonna have to look up about garlic ume pickles cause it sounds yum.
ReplyDeleteHi Debra! Thanks for your always encouraging comments :) Sophie is a really peachy girl, we'll miss her when her folks move in August!
ReplyDeleteHi Sheri!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I admire your clear and beautiful images as well! I've been using a Canon S90 since late February, am still learning its capabilities--I like it very much but its less intutive than the Nikon I was using before.
Hoping your strawberry plants are off to a strong start...sounds like a lovely sfternoon with your girl!
What a great comment from one of the most versatile and inspired bentoists around! Have a great evening, Lia!
ReplyDeleteHi Angi, glad you enjoyed this color combo! What shades are your tulips? I recall you had a whole bunch of bulbs planted :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Token dear! Your comments really lit up my Thursday morning. Happy spring!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are lovely!! I've never heard of picked garlic. I bet it packs quite a punch, huh?
ReplyDeleteHi Katy! You'd be surprised--they are fairly mild and sweet! The pickling process mutes the fieriness in a similar manner as roasting, but with the added tang of plum vinegar...hope you are having a relaxing weekend, bento pal!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous - such a crisp, fresh selection against the vibrant pink! WOW!
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at how your bentos make me feel so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lexi! As a recall, you are a fan of the color pink? I sure am!
ReplyDeleteHi Marisa, that's really nice to hear :))
