Happy Friday! Today's bento features whole grain toast topped with a wonderful salmon salad Jamison made. Green apple cut kitty and pup add color, while tender butter lettuce and edible blossoms, plus a French breakfast radish just pulled from the garden lend spring-zing.
I recently rediscovered my magewappa bento box, an old favorite...
Beautiful spring leafing and blooming a bit more each day here in Sonoma County and I'm thrilled to see the first tiny buds on several roses I planted. Have a great weekend!

Those tiny buds will get ya every time! My favourite is to see the first bright green leaves nascent on the grapevine, kind of a primal joy or maybe it is the thought of the wine that may result!
Lovely comment origa-me, thank you and cheers :))
Hi Bentobird,
I just found your blog (which is so cute!) while researching for pistachios. I saw your Persian Spring Bento and it was very helpful.
I wasn't sure if you would see the comment if I left it on there, so I hope it's okay that I post a comment to you on this page.
Anyway, wouldn't you know it, just as soon as I find your article on Nemooneh bakery and saw the gorgeous pictures of those slivered pistachios I find that they are closed. But wait! They opened Nemooneh Cafe in Vienna, so I called them today and found out they closed last week! My timing is impeccable.
I wanted to ask if you might know who else might carry those slivered pistachios? I used to live in Bethesda, near DC but now I'm in the Maryland Eastern Shore, but anywhere in the DC area would still be great.
I am having the hardest time finding a source. The closest I found was online for $7.00 for 2 ounces! NOT including shipping.
You mentioned Sauson, Kamron and Yekta markets in the article. I found Sauson and Yekta, but couldn't find Kamron. I called both Yekta & Sauson, but didn't get a definitive answer as to whether they carried it or not. Would you perhaps know, or point me to the right place?
I understand you're in the West Coast now(?) but I thought perhaps you might still know. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Your bento's are so adorable, I don't know how you do it. I'm a pastry chef, and I don't think I would have the patience! Cheers!

Hi there Gourmand73! Thank you so much for you kind comments and visit, fun to read! Another Paersian market to consider contacting is Iran Sara in Falls Church VA--it and some other good ones are on this list:

Sauson & Kamron Market is one place, and they seemed very well stocked...hope they can come through for you! Feel free to email my pistachio pic if you think it might clarify to folks what you are after :)
Ah, the patience of a pastry chef--that's one thing I don't have! Most of my bentos are impromptu arrangements and rely on equal parts inspriation (season, colors, whathaveyou) and improvisation. What do you most enjoy baking, and has upcoming Easter inspired some special baked goods? I'd love to hear about them!
Warm regards and happy spring!

Eeep! So cute! What a nice homage to our furry friends! :)
Such a thoughtful comment Miss Megg--thank you!
